Government/Economics
Syllabus
2007-2008
Instructor:
Kevin Sheppard
Grading for my
class will be on a 50 / 50 scale. This means that daily work will count 50% of
your six weeks grade and Chapter Tests will count 50% of your grade . However, this is before your Six Weeks Test, which
will count as 25% of your six weeks grade.
The way to
calculate your six weeks grade is to average your chapter tests and daily work,
then multiply that by .75. Then figure out your Six Weeks Test and multiply
by .25. Add the two together.
You will be
expected to:
- Be on time to class and be in your
seat when tardy bell rings or be counted absent.
- Stay quiet and answer to your name during
roll call. If you do not answer when your name is called , you will be
counted absent
- Have all assignments turned in or certain
privileges will not be allowed. You will not be allowed to leave
class, i.e. to talk to another teacher, go to library, etc. if you are
missing 1 or more assignments.
- Do work in black or blue ink. No red
ink.
- Bring book to class – If you do not
have your book in class, I will automatically deduct 30 points from that
assignment. Be responsible. Responsibility and respect go a long way in my
class.
- Take constructive criticism. If your
average is a 52 and you walk into class without a book and pen and are
also late, I will probably raise my voice at you. This is not
disrespecting you, it is disciplining you. Know the difference.
- Have a sense of urgency – in getting your
work in on time, showing up on time, doing what you are told when you are
told.
- Know that NO means NO. Accept that answer
from me. Don’t argue.
